We love Bamboo
At Belle&Basil we love bamboo, it is why we use bamboo for our lids. The lids are gorgeous, but much more importantly, they are very eco-friendly, with just a sliver of recyclable plastic on the inside to keep the jar hygienic.
All our packaging is 100% recyclable and where possible used from recycled sources, like the zig-zag filler which protects the glass jars in our postage boxes. It comes from the extra bits leftover in the manufacture of disposable coffee cups.
If you have found your way to Belle&Basil the chances are you take recycling and being aware of the current environmental crisis as seriously as we do.
In fact we take recycling so seriously that we would love you to Return Your Empties so we can clean the jar and lid and reuse them. We offer free return postage in the UK.
4 Reasons to Use Bamboo
Thank goodness for bamboo, it is the world's most sustainable crop...
- Bamboo needs very little water.
- It grows fast naturally (up to a metre a day for those of you who like their facts) without the need for pesticides or fertilisers.
- Bamboo is 100% biodegradable.
- it is also one of the most versatile crops. Bamboo was traditionally used for making furniture but now an amazing amount of different products are made from bamboo. At home, we use kitchen paper made of bamboo, as well as tissues, toilet paper, straws, plasters, toothbrushes and floss. Most of my clothes are made of bamboo, even the sheets on our bed (if you like a soft silky bed you have to try them).
So to support this wonderful, sustainable move to making everything out of bamboo we decided to put together a list of our favourite bamboo products and websites in the hope that if you haven’t already discovered the joy of bamboo you will very soon.
